Outreach & Advocacy
Community Outreach
Through our outreach initiatives, we work directly with the community to provide resources, education, and support. These efforts include partnerships with local organizations, schools, and community groups, and are focused on meeting immediate needs, building connections, and increasing awareness of the services available through our center.
Department of Labrador Affairs Grant & Personal Hygiene Products
Thanks to a generous grant from Labrador Public Affairs, the Labrador West Status of Women Council is now able to provide free personal hygiene products to those in need.
We know that the cost of these everyday essentials can be a barrier for many in our community. By offering items such as soap, shampoo, menstrual products, and other hygiene supplies, we hope to ease that burden and ensure that everyone has access to the basics that support health, dignity, and well-being.
This initiative strengthens our mission to provide a safe, inclusive, and supportive space for women and gender-diverse people in Labrador West. We are deeply grateful for the partnership that makes this possible.
If you are in need of hygiene products, please reach out to us here!
Advocacy
In addition to outreach, the Labrador West Status of Women Council also engages in advocacy at local, provincial, and national levels. Advocacy efforts are led by the organization itself and focus on advancing gender equity, social justice, and systemic change. While our outreach often involves collaboration with community partners, our advocacy represents the independent voice of our organization.
Canadian Research Institution for the Advancement of Women (CRIAW), Joint Statement on WAGE’s Budget
A joint letter to the Prime Minister calls on the federal government to reverse proposed 80% budget cuts to Women and Gender Equality (WAGE). The letter highlights that such reductions would devastate essential programs, undermine gender equity, and harm women, gender-diverse, and marginalized communities across Canada.
