After School Club
A safe and creative space for youth to connect, unwind, and explore!
Our After School Club is open to youth in grades 8, 9, and 10, offering a supportive environment to try new activities, build friendships, and just have fun. From crafts and games to themed days and life skill-building, every week brings something new!
We meet weekly on Thursdays at 3:30PM (1:00PM during summer break). Sessions are free, snacks are provided, and all identities and experiences are welcome.
Why We Started This Club
We know that in a small town, it can sometimes be hard to find things to do - especially for youth. We created the After School Club to help fill that gap by offering a space that’s welcoming, creative, and fun.
This is just the beginning! Our hope is that the After School Club grows into not just a weekly hangout, but a meaningful part of the community - a place where youth can connect, feel supported, and be themselves.
We believe in the power of connection, creativity, and conversation to support young people as they grow into confident, critical thinkers. As part of the Labrador West Status of Women Council, this club reflects our broader commitment to feminism, equality, and empowerment by creating a space where youth of all genders can learn, lead, and feel heard.
Whether you want to make art, play games, talk about real stuff, take part in our community, or just hang out - there’s a spot for you here.
What We’ve Been Up To
Our after-school club has been up to some wonderful things lately, and we’re so proud of the creativity and care this group shows every week. Together, they painted 70 beautiful Christmas cards to share with the Sponsor a Mom program, bringing joy and holiday cheer to families in our community. In February, they explored zine-making as part of Violence Prevention Month, using art and writing to express ideas and raise awareness about important issues. The group also welcomed a new finned friend to the center, a fish named Suki, adding a little extra life to our space. Most importantly, every Thursday the club continues to come together to try new activities, share laughs, and enjoy each other’s company.
