The Labrador West Status of Women Council engages in advocacy at local, provincial, and national levels. Advocacy efforts are led by the organization itself and focus on advancing gender equity, social justice, and systemic change.


PANSOW calls for the declaration of IPV as an epidemic in NL and the establishment of a GBV task force

We are proud to be a part of the Provincial Action Network on the Status of Women in calling for the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador to declare intimate partner violence (IPV) an epidemic and to establish a provincial GBV task force. Addressing this crisis requires immediate, coordinated action and sustained investment in prevention, protection, and survivor support.

A joint letter to the Prime Minister calls on the federal government to reverse proposed 80% budget cuts to Women and Gender Equality (WAGE). The letter highlights that such reductions would devastate essential programs, undermine gender equity, and harm women, gender-diverse, and marginalized communities across Canada.

Our Executive Director participates in quarterly Community Advisory Panel meetings as part of our ongoing commitment to advocacy and collaboration. These meetings bring together community partners to share insights, identify emerging needs, and strengthen coordinated responses to local issues. Through this work, we continue to ensure the voices and experiences of those we support are represented in broader community planning and decision-making.
