Job Description
The Labrador West Status of Women Council (LWSWC) is a not-for-profit organization committed to educating, empowering, and advocating for women and non-binary people. We provide a safe, inclusive space where individuals can access support, services, and build community connections.
The Administrative Assistant is a part-time position responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Women’s Centre. This role ensures smooth office function, supports organizational communication, and contributes to program facilitation and community engagement. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and ready to support a collaborative and values-driven workplace.
Key Responsibilities
As Administrative Assistant, the successful candidate will:
Assist the Executive Director and Board of Directors with administrative and organizational tasks
Support the coordination and hosting of public events, meetings, and educational sessions related to the Centre’s mission
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming office and community space
Answer phones, manage emails, file documents, and complete general office tasks including photocopying and supply tracking
Manage the organization’s Facebook and website (Squarespace)
Assist with content creation for social media, including proofreading, applying LWSWC branding, and using platforms like Canva
Participate in training and professional development opportunities related to software, technology, and administration
Support the Executive Director in organizing and delivering programming at the Women’s Centre
Collect and document data on outreach activities to support evaluation and reporting efforts
Work with QuickBooks Online Accounting Software
Maintain an accurate record of all financial transactions
Update and maintain the general ledger
Record debits and credits accurately
Reconcile entries into the accounting system
Perform account reconciliations to ensure transaction accuracy
Support financial reporting and administrative communication as needed
Complete all CRA filings as needed (payroll, HST/GST,Corporate Tax, etc.)
Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
A successful candidate will have:
Required:
Strong organizational and administrative skills
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
Reliability, punctuality, and a proactive approach to teamwork
Basic computer literacy, including email, file management, and office software
Experience with Google Workspace
Comfort with multitasking in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment
Basic accounting knowledge and data entry accuracy
Understanding of accounting principles and best practices
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online
High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Excellent organizational and professional communication skills
At least one year of relevant experience
Relevant educational training (certificate, diploma, or equivalent experience)
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Preferred:
Previous experience in a non-profit, community-based, or trauma-informed setting
Familiarity with issues facing women and gender-diverse people in Labrador
Understanding of confidentiality and sensitivity in community care contexts
Willingness to learn and adapt to new administrative tools and technologies
Experience with Canva, Adobe Acrobat, and Squarespace
Familiarity with financial procedures specific to publicly funded organizations
Other Details:
Rate of pay $22.50/hour at 25 hours/week
10 days paid vacation, 12 paid wellness days, and 13 other paid holidays per year
Remote options not available - must be in Labrador West region
