Community Engagement & Creative Programming Volunteers Wanted
At the Labrador West Status of Women Council, our core mandate has always centered around supporting women, addressing gender inequality, and helping bridge gaps in services throughout our region. Every day, we work to ensure women in Labrador West have access to supports, resources, advocacy, and guidance while navigating systems that can often feel overwhelming or difficult to access alone.
We recognize that meaningful support goes beyond direct services. Building a stronger, healthier community also means creating spaces where women feel connected, empowered, valued, and included. Community engagement plays an important role in reducing isolation, strengthening relationships, and fostering a sense of belonging. As our Centre continues to grow, we want to further expand opportunities for women to gather, learn, share experiences, and support one another in positive and meaningful ways.
One of the greatest strengths of Labrador West is the incredible diversity of knowledge, experience, skills, and creativity that exists within our community. We are surrounded by individuals who have passions, talents, lived experience, and ideas that could inspire and benefit others. Whether it’s wellness practices, creative arts, gardening, journaling, movement classes, cultural knowledge, or simply creating safe spaces for conversation and connection these contributions matter and have the power to positively impact others.
As part of our continued growth, we are looking to increase volunteer involvement and community-led programming opportunities at the Centre. We hope to build a network of individuals interested in sharing their time, skills, or passions through occasional workshops, activities, or social programming sessions throughout the year. We understand that many people want to give back but may only have limited availability, and we believe even a single session or contribution can make a meaningful difference.
By expanding community-driven programming, we hope to create more opportunities for engagement, participation, and connection for women across Labrador West. Our vision is not only to provide support services, but also to foster a welcoming environment where women can build relationships, discover new interests, learn from one another, and feel supported by their community.
We are excited about the possibilities ahead and look forward to collaborating with community members who want to be part of creating inclusive, empowering, and engaging experiences at the Centre. Together, we can continue building a stronger community rooted in support, connection, and shared knowledge.
Stay tuned as we will be looking for general volunteers in the near future. This opportunity is for individuals who are interested in contributing on a flexible, as-needed basis with minimal time commitment. General volunteers may assist with event set-up and clean-up, organizing the centre, preparing or distributing materials, and supporting community events. This role is ideal for those who want to stay engaged and give back in a casual, accessible way while supporting the day-to-day functioning of the organization.
